A Brief History of Virginia

This vanitas was part of the Virginiaisms series and depicts some of the culinary and agricultural backbones of the colony. Peanuts (brought to America by slaves), oysters, and even hemp played a major role in the colonization of early Virginia, while the corn represents early colonist hardships faced by ignoring the advice of Native Americans and pursing wealth instead of planting crops, ultimately forcing them to rely almost entirely on the charity of the Kecoughtan to survive.

The artwork is printed on 100% archival museum-quality paper. All prints are signed and numbered by the artist and are part of a limited edition. They are professionally packaged in high-quality, sturdy shipping tubes with worldwide shipping included in the price.
