The Surrender

"The Surrender" was painted for the 225th anniversary of the Battle of Yorktown. The county would not dignify it with a response, however, George Washington's Mount Vernon estate kindly responded in an e-mail saying they would "pass it along to the staff". Originally an experiment in automatism, the piece was an exercise in the free association of both whimsical and malevolent figures to make a subtle statement. The painting was later used in Kelly Gallagher's "Write Like This" and found itself used in creative writing courses in schools across the nation to help students become more engaged in analysis and interpretation.

The artwork is printed on 100% archival museum-quality paper. All prints are signed and numbered by the artist and are part of a limited edition. They are professionally packaged in high-quality, sturdy shipping tubes with worldwide shipping included in the price.
